Discover the museums of lower Manhattan:

There are 15 Museums of Lower Manhattan that will inspire you unlike any other destinations in New York. Want to show your kids where the alins landed? Check out the South Street Seaport Museum. Ready to meet New Yorkers from the 19th century? They will greet you in person at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. It's all here- in the historic downtown area south of Houston Street- at the 15 Museums Of lower Manhattan.

Each of these Museums tells fascinating stories about the struggles and triumphs of "ordinary" New Yorkers and Americans. Some Museums are huge institutions in modern buildings with multi-media presentations. Others are intimate spaces at inspiring historical land-marks. Since many are walking distance apart, you can enjoy several in one terrific day downtown.

Weekens and vactions are a great time to treat your family to the museum of lower Manhattan. Especially for kids in grade school and junior high, there are fims, hans-on exhibits, guided tours, and arts and crafts that are educational.
